At Shelby Baptist Medical Center, we’re passionate about caring for the people of central Alabama. Alabaster is our home, and we’re pleased to serve our community. Our acute care facility is equipped with 252 beds and over 1,000 professionals to do just that. Our emergency department is one of the most depended-upon in the state, with over 51,000 visits each year.

And our technology resources include a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. Advanced tools enable our treatment and service, but we believe our most valuable resources are our passion and expertise. We follow a patient-focused approach that helps ensure you get not only the immediate care you need, but also preventive care and education to help you maintain the maximum level of health.

In 2015, Brookwood Medical Center merged with Baptist Health System. The result is a new community of care. We offer a full range of services to meet the diverse needs of our patients including fast, life-saving response times for patients with chest pain or stroke symptoms; cardiology, including specialized surgical services; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.

The doctor’s and staff at Shelby Baptist saved my life. The biggest shout out goes to the nurses. Dr. Tubbs was also fantastic. That staff is top notch, we are blessed here in Shelby County.

I had a great experience here last night. The ER nurses took very good care of me under the care of Dr. John Croushourn. He was my ER doctor. He takes your concerns seriously and takes care of you as if you’re his family. Thank you to him and the entire Shelby staff that took care of me.

I can’t say enough about the nurse’s that took care of me for over a week, my every need was satisfied, they were always asking me if I needed anything, my comfort was always a priority. My experience with the doctors and the nurse’s was top notch. Big compliments to the nursing staff on the third floor, you guys deserve a raise! Great job!
