Samford is awesome! I feel like I am at home and developing passion for life after college. I am being challenged socially, spiritually as well as academically.

The community aspect is a large part of the Samford experience. Most of the students and professors are very friendly. The majority of students are in Greek life and finding independents are often out of the ordinary. The general education classes are pretty rigorous and are not for the faint of heart. Most of the professors are very educated and can expect too much out of students. The campus is very nice in general but most of the dorms are small and old. I feel like it’s just part of the experience, but can be hard to adjust to. Many students are critical of the cafeteria but it could be much worse. The dining options are usually okay but sometimes during meal transition times there is either no food out or no staff members to serve it. The staff are generally cordial, but it depends on who you get. Many of the students are friends with particular staff members, which is very heartwarming to see. I would say, if you are nice then they will be too.

Samford prides itself in being the #1 school for student engagement according to the Wall Street Journal and my experience so far has been reflective of this fact. There is always something going on around campus. Whether it’s a student government or Greek life event, the events are always fun and organized. My only reservation is there is usually a lack of communication when it comes to advertising these events. I missed several of them this year because I simply did not know they were happening. I wish they would utilize social media, the school event calendar, and posters around campus more.

Samford is a very nice school. Pretty campus and wonderful staff. The most popular thing at Samford is involvement which happens to be what is not my favorite. There are lots of opportunities to be involved, but it becomes a bit over whelming. It is easy to feel like your not doing enough if you do not volunteer. One thing I love about Samford is the inclusiveness. Samford is christ centered and helps others grow closer to God.
