Since its founding in 1854, Providence has been serving, caring for and healing the people of Mobile and surrounding areas. Last year, the hospital had more than 15,000 inpatient discharges and 146,000 outpatient visits. Providence Hospital is also a full service, 349-bed medical/surgical facility located on a 277-acre campus in West Mobile, Alabama. It’s accredited by The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Providence is a member of Ascension,the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system. Its mission is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to south Alabama and southeast Mississippi, with a special concern for persons who are poor and vulnerable.

The Providence Heart Failure Clinic has achieved Gold status from the American Heart Association and is a Certified Primary Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical staff includes representatives from every major medical specialty and subspecialty, with more than 200 physicians located in offices on campus.

Providence Medical Group is the area’s largest non-profit network of primary care and specialty physicians with more than 20 locations and 70 providers in South Alabama and Southern Mississippi. I recently had an outpatient surgery procedure at Ascension Providence and the entire experience was five star! My skilled physician obgyn Dr Trammel, my thorough anesthesiologist, the thoughtful CRNA and RNs (absolute angels) as well as the swift and courteous ladies at patient registration all contributed to a great experience considering the nature of my visit! I can’t thank them enough

Yesterday I had outpatient surgery (gallbladder removal) and from start to finish I was amazed!! My preop nurses Brittany and Chelsea made me feel like I was the only patient in the building. This helps when you are anxious and nervous before surgery. Amy the anesthesiologist or NA heard my concerns about coughing when I come out of anesthesia. She said we could do a breathing treatment while I was still under. I didn’t cough a single time!! I vaguely remember going to the OR but Jose was super nice. When I woke my postop nurse was right on it and I don’t suffer with nausea or too much pain. Just soreness mainly. I hate I didn’t catch her name but I was a little out of it lol. Dr Blankenship and his staff are amazing and today I am doing FANTASTIC!!

2nd time here, husband had outpatient procedure, was referred here by Department of Veteran’s Affairs in Biloxi, Mississippi, grateful for that because it saved us a 53 mile drive one way. Husband was seen for a consultation, booked for procedure within a month. Husband had same procedure several years ago in California, so we knew what to expect. He was put under and came out of anesthesia just fine & given a 4 week follow-up appointment. Nurses were wonderful, doctor was great. No issues other then his appointment was at 7:30 AM, we were told to be there by 6 AM, but he was not taken into procedure area until after 9:30 AM. I recommend bringing your electronic devices, a book, change for the vending machines, chargers if you will be waiting for your loved one because it will be a few hours.
