PainSouth was established in 1998 to provide a combination of services that were not offered at that time. We utilize multiple modalities including interventional procedures as well as medication management. Our goal is to provide you relief from your pain and to improve your general well being and mental attitude. We want to help lower your anxiety, eliminate your fear of daily pain, improve your outlook and relationships with others, and help you be more effective at work.

Dr. David Cosgrove, MD is an anesthesiology doctor who practices in Birmingham, AL. He is 56 years old and has been practicing for 25 years. Dr. Cosgrove was born in Oklahoma and raised in a small Florida town. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University before obtaining his medical degree from LSU Medical School. After an internship in internal medicine he discovered his passion for interventional pain medicine while completing his residency in Anesthesiology at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, LA.

Dr. Cosgrove uses his background in teaching to make the complexity of pain management easier to understand on the patient level. He uses multiple modalities to treat chronic pain conditions such as interventional pain procedures, medications and other medical equipment. While away from his private practice, he assists other physicians by providing pain management services to their pain patients. He also speaks to other physicians regarding current findings in medication management as well as the newest technology in interventional procedures.
