Dr. Edwin K. Matthews, MD

Dr. Edwin Matthews is a primary care physician who has been practicing Family Medicine in Decatur and Northern Alabama for over 10 years. He graduated from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in 1998 and then completed his Family Medicine Residency Program at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in 2001.

His first practice, in Decatur, gave him the opportunity and challenge to provide care for people of different backgrounds, including many with limited access to healthcare. From this experience, he developed a determination to provide the best quality of care, and is known for being a caring and compassionate physician who is dedicated to the health care of his patients.

Through his practice and due to his faith, he believes in the importance of general wellness, including diet and exercise as critical to improving a patient’s health. While practicing in Decatur, he has spent several years as Medical Director for several medical offices in Northern Alabama.

Since joining Gill Family Medicine, he continues to serve his community with a mission and belief that providing excellent healthcare involves a detailed and caring approach to each person’s well-being. He believes a healthy lifestyle can lead to a happier and longer life.
