Day Eye Center is a premier eye care facility located in Pelham, AL. Our office and eye doctors are dedicated to providing excellence in patient care, clinical education, and optical services. Our doctors are leaders in clinical eye care involving eye and vision disorders. We provide the highest quality lenses, frames and contact lenses to solve the vision needs of our patients.

Our mission is to deliver a personal and problem focused eye exam and provide you with affordable fashion eyeglasses and contacts. Every patient is given a comprehensive eye examination and time is always taken to discuss and address your questions and concerns. We offer full scope care of the eye for injuries and illnesses too. Our office is located in the Riverchase area of Hoover, near Valleydale Road, on Old Montgomery Highway.

Please let us take care entire family, including geriatric and pediatric patients. Dr. Jim Day Jr is a UAB School of Optometry graduate and has over 30 years of combined experience in ocular examinations, including the treatment and management of glaucoma, diabetic eye care, eye infections, minor eye injuries, pre-and post-operative cataracts and LASIK, and the fitting of contact lenses and glasses. Advanced diagnostic SD-OCT testing is done in our office and the results are read by Dr Day before you leave.

Our optical eyeglasses showroom has over 1000 frames and sunglasses to choose from budget to designer for your lifestyle needs. The in-office lab can finish your glasses and customize your sunglasses. (Yes same day service is available for glasses) We accept: VSP Eyeglasses, EyeMed eye exams, Medicaid, Spectera, Medicare, United Health Care and a variety of insurance plans. This was the first time I visited this place. I was very last minute and needed an appointment same day and they were able to squeeze me in. Service was friendly, attentive, and personable. This is the best eye center I’ve been to since wearing glasses as a kid. I highly recommend, you will not be dissatisfied!

My first visit to Day Eye Center after being recommended by a friend. I thought I had an object in my eye causing a lot of pain and non stop tears. The staff took me straight back to the exam room and Dr. Day examined my eye thoroughly and did not find anything, but decided I had a viral infection! He prescribed eye drops with steroids and antibiotic and told me that I would start to immediately start feeling relief after I start the drops. The office staff
Said they would call my prescription in to my pharmacy, but as the day passed by I had not heard anything from the pharmacy. I called Dr. Day’s office only to find they had already closed for the day. I called the pharmacy and they told me a prescription had not been called in for me. My friend that recommended them called Dr. Day and he inturn called me and apologized and he called in the prescription. He continues to call me and check that I had received the medication. I was very impressed with Dr. Day, his professionalism and the fact that he really cared about a patient he had never met, but wanted to make sure I was out of pain and that my eye was healing. It is very rare to receive personal care from any medical. Staff these days, but Dr. Day in his free time took the time to make sure my needs were being seen to. My next eye check up, exam etc will be at the Day Eye Center!
