Meat isn’t the only thing that’s reds at Viande Rouge, which means “red meat” in French. The walls, banquets and bar seating all reverberate with the same intense color. A good starter is the silky lobster bisque, with chunks of lobster meat and creme tranche adorning its center. Among the steak offerings, many of which are large enough to share, you will like the unlisted flat-iron ordered rare, with bone marrow and shallot butter on top. The French-inspired menu also includes boeuf bourguignon and a duck a’l’orange, as owner Marc Sublette’s lineage is Gallic. The many sides include a line up of potato options, including pommel rissoles. The white bean cassoulet could serve as a small main course with a salad. For dessert, you will enjoy the coconut cream pie, while bananas Foster is among the dramatic dishes prepared table side. The best steak I’ve had so far this year. I had the bone in rib-eye, and it was full of flavor. This is definitely not a restaurant that seasons lightly with a little salt and pepper. All the sides were amazing, especially the sweet potato casserole.
For dessert, the creme brûlée is a must try. The whipped cream and berries were perfect with the creme brûlée. I normally do not love whipped cream, but I ate all of it.

The service was great, and restaurant was pretty romantic. I’d recommend this restaurant for first dates.

The atmosphere is intimate; certainly white table cloth dining. The menus is focused on steaks with nice fish choices; salads, etc. the service is excellent. The wine selection is good. This is absolutely a strong upscale dining location.

Superb, excellent, well executed, well done, really great, terrific-I could go on, but I still won’t do it justice. This is just a really great restaurant that we are already looking forward to visiting again. The menu was well balanced and peppered with French classics and great steaks and sides (bone marrow and shallot butter garnish for your steak anyone?)

Solid wine list, wonderful selection of deserts, and a whole lot of table side cooking (Caesar salad, steak diane and peache flambe over ice cream during our visit). The staff was excellent from the bartender to the owner who was bringing us extra bread and bussing our table (great selection of soft french breads and crispy flatbreads by the way. A good pour on the drinks as well.

Viande Rouge is a sexy, warm lighted restaurant tucked away in a shopping strip(?) but it’s as good as any intown bistro and beyond.

The food and service are terrific. It’s a steak place primarily – the name is something like red meat translated – and as you might hope, the steaks are delicious. Even when I “ruin” a steak, by getting it well done, this place delivered tender juicy meat cooked perfectly for my ruinous desires.

A really great romantic spot – leave the kidlets at home and enjoy a sexy, delicious evening out with your love.
