Wow wow wow. Calling all sushi-lovers (or really just food lovers)! Go to Umi now. NOW. Or whenever you can find the nearest reservation. I’ve been to Umi twice now–both times I have been so amazed at the quality of this food. This is a meal that will cost you a good bit of money, but every cent is worth it. Every dish is carefully crafted to mix together the perfect mix of flavors. I encourage you to close your eyes as you chew your food to try to pick up on everything that the chef puts into each plate. My last time visiting Umi, my date and I ordered the avocado salad, a rainbow roll, the Lobster Toban-Yaki, and some assorted nigiri. I also ordered a mezcal cocktail. I highly recommend everything that we ordered, but I would say the Lobster Toban-Yalu was definitely a can’t-miss.

Love this place!! We won’t go anywhere else for sushi. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, and we went back for his. The food is amazing and fresh. We have had several different things and can’t wait to go back to try more. The staff is extremely friendly. Everyday is busy here so it’s better to make a reservation. I also recommend order the dessert you want early because it will run out. Our favorite is the green tea soufflé. The kyo is good if you really like chocolate and the presentation was fun.

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. My usual order is Rock Shrimp, Lobster Toban, Sake Aoli, New Page and Chilean Seabass. Half the time I am too stuffed to get the seabass but it is so flavorful. The rock shrimp is perfectly breaded without being too heavy but I have to be careful not to fill up on it. By far the best part to me is the sake aoli. I probably could just get 6 orders of that. That truffle oil!! The lobster toban is seared over a hot plate at the table and the brown butter they put on top really brings out the sweetness of the meat without drowning it in butter. I usually reserve a chocolate globe, don’t know the real name but it is a chocolate sphere filled with cream and fresh berries that you break with a hammer. They run out so you have to reserve ahead of time if you are going late but is such a refreshing end to the meal.

What can I tell you of a restaurant with Uni’s reputation? The food and services are outstanding. My wife and I are regulars here. So, let’s start with the reservation. This place is always packed so make sure to have a reservation before you show up. Make it at least a couple of days ahead of you intend to choose your time. There are normally spaces same that but you will have to adjust at there timing. Last reservation happens at 9:30 but I don’t recommend it. All food is fresh so by las call many dishes are gone.
They have a great sake selection. Sake pairs outstandingly well with raw fish so it’s a must. Good news is that sales are not so expensive so you can get a decent bottle for 80 USD. It’s a fantastic high-end restaurant so dress up and be prepared to pay $150 pp.

This was an amazing recommendation from our friend Van Council who frequents here quite a bit since his incredible Salon is right across the street. He told us we would not be disappointed and he Sure was right!
From the moment you walk in from the unassuming front door, the ambiance and decor is stunning.
We were greeted by Iris, our server and she was awesome! We told her it was our first time and asked for recommendations of what to order. She suggested the most amazing dishes…everyone a visual and tasteful experience.
Highly recommend the albacore sushi with truffle oil and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. Soooo good.
Again our server Iris was fantastic. So nice and she was so engaging conversation.
Also entire serving staff was on point in taking care of our every need, from water to clearing dishes etc.!
Great 5-Star service. Epic restaurant

Without question, this is the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. Went with some colleagues and I did not see the bill, but I know it definitely was not cheap. However, this is a case of “you get what you pay for”. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and the overall experience was top notch. If you are interested in uniqueness, tell the wait staff how many pieces you want and let the chef choose. Absolutely amazing. Our final 3 pieces were “time-sensitive”, and I’ve never eaten anything like it. Highly recommended!

I have spent time in Tokyo, eaten at a lot of sushi places here in Atlanta, Manhattan, San Fran, other places, but Umi is one of if not the best quality sushi I have experienced. The owner/head chef in the picture with us was so cool and accommodating, treated us like family. The fatty toro was my favorite, along with the uni. Be prepared to pay if you go, but it is totally worth it. You will probably see Atlanta royalty if you go.
