Dr. Paul Jeffords is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and specialist in minimally-invasive spine surgery, including endoscopic and laser spine surgery. Dr. Jeffords, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon, has been in practice in Atlanta with Resurgens Orthopaedics—Georgia’s largest orthopaedic practice – since 2005. He is is former co-medical director of Resurgens Spine Center. Dr. Jeffords surgical expertise is in minimally invasive spine surgery, reconstructive spinal deformity surgery, cervical spine surgery, and artifical disc replacement. He has instructed many other surgeons on disc replacement surgery and minimally invasive techniques and is currently involved in several clinical trials.

Dr. Jeffords has authored multiple research publications and book chapters and presented talks at numerous spine meetings. Dr. Jeffords has a degree in biomedical engineering and is involved in the research and development of spinal implants and devices. He serves as an advisory consultant to several medical device and biotechnology companies. Dr. Jeffords is section chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta which has been ranked among the top ten percent in the nation for overall orthopedic care according to a comprehensive study released by HealthGrades.

Dr. Jeffords is certified by the Americal Board of Othopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the North American Spine Society, the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the AO Spine Society, the Spine Arthroplasty Society, the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, and the Atlanta Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Jeffords earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University where he received the prestigious Dean’s Honor Scholarship and played varstiy football for two years. In 2006, U.S. News & World Report named Saint Joseph’s one of the top 50 Orthopaedic hospitals in the nation for the second consecutive year.

He attended medical school at Tulane University and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. While at Emory, Dr. Jeffords was awarded the Georgia Orthopaedic Society’s Thomas E. Whitesides, MD Award. He was also awarded the Emory University Dept. of Orthopaedics Robert E. Kelly Society Award for Clinical Research. Dr. Jeffords then received additional fellowship training in adult spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas.

Dr. Paul Jeffords is awesome. He has performed a microdiscectomy on me in 2006 and a four-level spinal fusion in 2023. His expertise, knowledge is unparalleled. Dr. Jeffords uses state-of-the-art equipment combined with cutting-edge technology in his procedures. I would highly recommend him for any spinal procedure.

I live in Florida and the best decision I made was to travel to Atlanta for spinal surgery with Dr. Jeffords. Yes it cost money to travel, but it was totally worth the expense. After surgery I have no more pain in my back and right leg. I can play softball again, and have returned to my exercise class. Dr Jeffords office team, and surgical center personnel gave me the best care.

Dr. Jeffords and his staff are amazing. I was frightened when I was first introduced to the ACDF surgery. I first tried 3 epidural’s over a 9 month period to ridden the pain down my back. No help. I called a friend who had this surgery a few years ago. He said he wished he had not waited so long. I scheduled my surgery the next day. Bottom line…. the pain was gone the moment I woke up and it has been gone since. Easy recovery and the staff was excellent. Don’t wait! Get it done!

Dr. Jeffords and his PA’s, Scott Siegel and Shelby Ward, provided me with exceptional service from the first office appointment to the last post surgical visit. Dr. Jeffords office is the most efficient and professional doctors office I have ever encountered in my 73 years! When arriving on time for each visit, I waited no more than 3-5 minutes in the waiting room before being called into an examination room where I waited no more than 3-5 minutes for Dr. Jeffords or PA Siegel or PA Ward. Amazing! More importantly, these medical providers were caring, sensitive, and good communicators. Dr. Jeffords met with me the morning of my surgery and put me at ease with his explanation of the procedure and actually prayed with me and for me. Again, amazing! Now six weeks post surgery, I am recovering quickly and look forward to complete recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Jeffords and his staff!!

Dr. Jeffords and his team are amazing! Last year I had artificial discs put in C5-C7. My recovery went so well that my wife had a similar procedure in her lower back. From our initial consult through every follow-up appointment Dr. Jeffords has shown us compassion and concern. He always takes the time to answer our questions. He under-promised and over-delivered. Dr. Jeffords performed a microdiscectomy for L3-L4 and L4-L5 herniated discs 5 weeks ago and when I woke up my intense sciatic pain was 100% gone. He specializes in all degenerative disc disease so if that is your problem he’s your guy. The professionalism by him and his staff was excellent from my first visit through the last. My pain was on/off for 5 months then very bad and 24/7 for 5 months. Know that it is a process, you see one of his PA’s, then do an MRI, then you go in for him to interpret the results and he will break down all of your options. Physical therapy wasn’t working so we did a steroid shot which gave zero relief. I would rather have never done the shot because your pain will almost certainly come back because it just blocks the pain for a period, and I’m a healthy very active 31 y/o with plans to be active for the rest of my days. Apparently insurance wants to see you’ve tried the shot and for an older less active person it could be your best option. They also have excellent physical therapy across the hall I’ve been going to. I’d like to thank Dr. Jeffords and his team for giving me my life back after quite a struggle.

Dr. Paul Jeffords and his staff are excellent . Dr. Jeffords took the time I needed him too, to recommend all my options. The treatment plan was detailed and complete. After trying PT and steroid injections, I ended up having Paul do a spinal fusion. He did a great job and my back pain has been reduced greatly. I know I will have a lot less pain after the Fusion totally heals. I am looking forward to getting my health back and being able to enjoy the outdoors again. I highly recommend Paul Jeffords and his team at Resurgens in Atlanta.

I had sciatic pain for eight months and it got to the point that I couldn’t sit, stand, work or sleep. I had two epidural steroid injections with no relief. I tried both physical therapy and chiropractics. Finally I took the advice of one of my colleagues and made an appointment with Dr Jeffords. Upon examination Dr Jeffords pointed out my herniated discs and recommended an out patient procedure called a partial discectomy of my L5-S1 disc. So I took his advice and went through with it. The first time I stood up after the procedure I noticed my sciatic pain was completely gone! Three weeks have now passed and I couldn’t feel better. In another three weeks I will be able to play sports again! I want to publicly thank Dr Jeffords for his amazing bedside manner (he called me the night before surgery to answer any questions, we said a prayer together before surgery, and then he called me the night after surgery to follow up), and his skill (very small incision and very little post operative discomfort). I would recommend him to anyone seeking relief!
