I do not recommend having your baby here. Night shift Labor & delivery was the worst. I had a birth plan to have a lotus birth. The nurse said that I couldn’t do it. I’ve asked if I could get a copy of their policies no one would get it for me. The nurse had gotten their supervisor. She had the most nastiest attitude ever. They talked about me saying that I was begin difficult but I wasn’t. She told me that they didn’t allow the lotus birth & that the hospital didn’t have a policy for it. If you don’t have a policy for it then how come I couldn’t do the lotus birth? It wasn’t making sense. I looked up the birthing law & I’ve informed them of what the law said. The law always trump the hospital policies. They wasn’t listening to me & didn’t care about my needs or wants. It was very frustrating. I told them I wanted to keep my placenta they didn’t allow me to do so. I had to get a C section & was not told why I had to get one. After my C-section I over heard a nurse saying that the suction machine had stopped working. I was literally laying on the table leaking blood half cut wide open. It was very scary. They didn’t even had an backup suction machine. I guess they had Improvised. The only best thing I will say about this location for my first birth is that recovery was the best ever. That’s why I put 3 stars because of how amazing the recovery staff treated me & my mom. This was my first child & my experience was very traumatizing. The recovery staff helped my mother & I out. They also gave us some incredible information & insights. We were very grateful & thankful having those amazing ladies. I recommend that people get midwives & doulas & just simply have your kids at home or at the Atlanta birthing center. This hospital is a hot mess. I’ve heard that nearly everyone at labor & delivery were new. Some just graduated & some were still in training. In my opinion that’s very careless as well as dangerous. I love my first nurse when I gotten emitted to the hospital. She was very nice. Oh & the doctor who gave me my epidural was funny & fast. Couldn’t feel a thing. My baby girl was born 12/05/23 @ 9:38pm. I have a lot of things to say that went completely wrong but I’m going to keep it this short lol. I’m requesting a lawsuit for the C-section because I was very affirmative that I did not wanted a C-section. They gave me one anyways without informing me of why I was getting one.

I do not recommend this hospital for giving birth. They are extremely interventive, and have a high rate of surgical outcomes.
However, for general and emergency healthcare they provide great care. The facility is always clean, and staff are friendly and take great care with patients and families!

I am a Canadian who was visiting for the weekend, and unfortunately ended up the the ER. First impressions were good, hospital is nice. Nurses were friendly enough. I ended up having to wait about 3 hours in the ER while throwing up constantly, in front of people. I wish they would have found a room sooner for me, mainly for the other patients as I’m sure they were totally grossed out. When I finally got a room, the nurses were quick to set me up on IV hydration. I was in the ER for an additional two hours. Once you get a room, they are pretty quick, but the Initial wait in the waiting room is too long. I also was not released until about 9:30 PM and I could not find a pharmacy open at all in the entire city of Atlanta. Hospital should have a pharmacy open later. I had to wait until the next day for my much needed medication and it was not a pleasant night. All in all, your healthcare system is not much different than ours, except you have to pay for yours, which is why I was not expecting such a long wait.

Currently in Northside ER on 9/24/18 at 11 PM and the lady and gentleman and gentleman that took my vitals at the front desk are the Most patient and kind professionals that you could ask for in a position as important as this. They are extremely professional and are treating each new patient with the most outstanding levels of customer service. For this, I am extremely grateful. Thank you Northside for hiring such amazing employees and making this ER experience one that was much less painful and stressful than it could have been. I hope that these three individuals receive a special thank you from Northside for their dedication to their customer service and going above and beyond for Northside patients. They certainly deserve it.

It baffles me that this hospital doesn’t have more stars. I came into the ER with chest pain after being diagnosed with the flu a week earlier. They took one look at me, got my vitals (I am a 32 year and has a heart rate of 150) they then immediately started an IV, took blood tests, got an EKG done, and took me back to my room with in 10 minutes of walking in. Have you ever heard of going to an ER and not even have to sit down in the waiting room?! From there it was chest X-rays, some more blood tests, and a cat scan. After finding out that I have pneumonia (never had the flu), with a partially collapsed lung, and ruling out blood clots, my resting heart rate was still at 120 and spiked to 160 if I tried to walk around. They admitted me into the main hospital to stay for the night. I talked to so many staff with everything I got done from the ER to the 5th floor central hospital where the rest of my stay was, and let me tell you what, I have never met so many friendly proactive staff members of a hospital ever. Not a single person stood out as even a little unfriendly. They care about the patients there. If I did have to say who was the best and most helpful it would be the first nurse in the Er who put in my IV, did the EKG, and kept checking on me for the rest of my time in the ER, Charlotte the first nurse I had on the 5th floor, my overnight team Sam and the nurse tech (Sorry the name is slipping my mind) and Brianna. Something that was an extremely scary experience was made into a very wonderful experience with bad circumstances. One of the nurses joked that it was “Hotel Northside” and that’s how it felt. (Just with horrible food- I mean awful!!) The care team and how on it everyone is, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in such a bad circumstance.

This review is based solely on my tour, since I’m not officially a patient just yet. Our tour was from 10am to around 11am and very informative. I definitely feel better about my choice with Northside to be the place I deliver at. Very clean environment and friendly staff. Instructions and signs on where to go are also easy to follow. Northside is all about the mom and baby and this is evident based on the tour guide presentation and the rules that are in place. All babies are banded with a security band to ensure the safety of the baby at all times and leave you feeling safe. I am looking forward to my time at the hospital for the delivery of my little one and will update my review once I’m a patient.

I was undecided in the beginning of my pregnancy on what hospital to deliver baby. I received so many recommendations to Northside. I am so relieved I made that decision and transferred to Northside switching OBGYNs was a pain but it was totally worth it. I delivered a healthy baby boy on Wednesday. The staff there was all extremely friendly. All of them went beyond their expectations to make sure all of my needs were met. They all made sure I was comfortable and that baby and I was all set to go home with tons of supplies and tons of support back at home. Anika in the women’s center was our nurse for 2 nights straight and she was truly a blessing. I felt really safe and comfortable with her. I will forever be thankful for everyone that assisted my family and I throughout the transition as well. Keep up the excellent work! Thank you Northside Hospital for the delivery of our baby boy! We will forever be grateful.

Great emergency room! Dr.Funk in the ER is the best. So was the attending nurse , I can’t remember her name..THE ONE THAT SAID DON’T SAY THE Q WORD!! Quit around here .. lol..she was funny and great. So was the phlebotomist… funny guy too…as well as the radiology tech .. he gave my wife and daughter blankets..they were cold….Dr Funk did all the test. I had heart issues they got me in literally in minutes. He gave me a breathing treatment that I think made the heart issue go away. Was super quick super professional and very comfortable for a stressful situation… Thanks to all of you! The Mcknight family

I’ve spent a lot more time in this hospital than I’d like but have always had a good experience. I’ve had multiple major surgeries there. They’re team approach to care (pain management, wound/Ostomy nurses, nutritional services – even environmental services) is top notch Oh, and the IV team I can’t say enough about the staff and management on the GI floor and the post op GI staff. I was just admitted through the ER 3 weeks ago and they were efficient as well Its a long drive but worth it

I was just discharged from Northside Hospital of Atlanta and I cannot say enough about the Drs., the Nursing staff, the Administration staff, the Housekeeping Staff and the Volunteers. From the ER to the Cardiac Unit on the 6th Floor to the Nuclear Science Dept. they were caring, professional, courteous and friendly. Even going from place to place within the hospital, staff had a friendly smile and a hello.
Thank you so much for taking such good care of me! I really appreciate you all!

Being from another state on business and ending up in the hospital is scary. The team here made the experience so much easier and comfortable. The nurses and doctors were all caring and considerate. My husband had to be admitted for several days and everyone was very accommodating. The food is great, not near what I expected for hospital food. We wouldn’t have had better care back home.
