Come Visit NONA continuing an Athens tradition in Creole and Cajun fine dining. What began in 1985 as Harry Bissett’s New Orleans Cafe, lives on at NONA. Located across from the University Of Georgia’s historic North Campus, is the most pleasant spot downtown for lunch or dinner.

NONA features three distinct dining areas: the Bayou Room, the Atrium Balcony and the gorgeous upstairs Dining Room. Enter the restaurant through the warm and welcoming old style bar and sit in an atmosphere capturing a feel of Jazz and Mardi Gras. NONA offers dishes inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Louisiana. Delectable dishes prepared with only the finest of ingredients daily.

Sample Oysters Rockefeller and Bienville, Shrimp and Grits or Sherry Crab Soup. Feast on delicious entrees such as the French Quarter Filet or Chicken Rochambeau. They will tickle the most discriminating palate. Weekends are unique with our New Orleans inspired Brunch served Saturday and Sunday and are not to be missed. Y’all Come!

The quality of the food spoke for itself! I can honestly say I just ate the best piece of filet I have ever eaten in my life. I went for the oyster man and requested medium rare. I almost never got the cook I request but compliments to the cook. They got it perfect. I’m also not a big spinach fan but the creamed spinach was superb! I also suggest the clam soup. Omg it was rich and delish! I’ll be coming back for sure! Got to try those shrimp and gritts.

The place has a wonderful ambiance (and it’s huge!). The food is also great; I’m not a seafood person and I still loved the oysters. The beignets are amazing, and their brunch menu overall is delicious.

Wonderful food, beautiful setting, and great customer service. Have gone here for happy hour or dinner several times since moving to Athens, and I could see myself becoming a regular here. Also, I am a huge fan of their oysters :) Plus, they have a great outdoor seating area. Strongly recommend!

We decided to try NONA for our date night and were very pleased. The food surpassed our expectations! We ordered Oysters Rockefeller and crab cakes for appetizers. My husband is very picky about his oysters and was very happy with his dish. I have to say, the crab cakes were THE BEST I’VE EVER HAD! He ordered the French Quarter filet medium rare with creamed spinach and potatoes. This was perfectly cooked and delicious. I ordered the fresh catch MahiMahi bronzed with creamed spinach and red beans and rice. I’ve never had creamed spinach and was very surprised at how good it was. We will definitely be back!

I have lived in Athens for four years now, and NONA is easily my favorite restaurant. I’ve probably tried at least half of their menu and every single item I have had is phenomenal. NONA is unique in that I can go for brunch, lunch or dinner, and get great food for a reasonable price, regardless of my budget (I’m a college student and I’ve been alone, with my peers, and with parents). Staff and service have always been wonderful, as well. Protip: the oysters bienville are a MUST.
