Our history began in 1979 in Charleston, SC with the opening of Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse.

The family-owned restaurant provides a fun and enjoyable dining experience with hibachi style grills and a full service sushi bar. In 1998, we opened our first Kyoto Express as a franchise business to serve our customers “on-the-go”. As the restaurant quickly grew in the southeast, our management team upgraded the business and changed the name to Miyabi Junior Express in 2010.

At this time, we made a commitment to upgrade all aspects of the restaurant business. Our investments and upgrades include a remodel of the restaurants with a down draft hibachi grill to provide cleaner air circulation. And changed from the franchise business model to having all restaurants partly owned by Miyabi restaurant employees and investors.

Never unsatisfied when we come to Miyabi. We order filet and shrimp and iits always good! The portions are large you will definitely take food home. They have awesome drinks. I like the Mai-Tai.. We have been patronizing this restaurant for over 7 years and will continue. Sushi is on point also!! Try it , you won’t regret it.

Oh my god! I am so in love and I think I need to re-kindle this obsession!
I am not really into hibachi or anything hot when it comes to Japanese – I am a sushi girl!! There is a ton of rice which is great and the meats you select are done amazingly with so much flavor. They take the time to make sure you enjoy your food.

They have changed my mind. The entertainment of the cooks never gets old and i have been lucky enough to have 2 or 3 great cooks that keep us really entertained. I am such a dork and a dancing queen – and love to laugh loudly! I promise this is the place to be when you want to come out and have fun. You are paying for the overall experience and to be entertained. It is a great show.

Johnny was our chef, he did a great job. Very entertaining and the rib eye was cooked perfectly (med rare). Great food, great atmosphere, great place.

I have been enjoying Miyabi for years. I loved taking my children and now my grandchildren to watch the shows the cooks put on as they prepare authentic Japanese hibachi. I have never been disappointed with the taste and quality of the food. The serving size is large. There is always enough for left overs. Food fun family and friends…can’t beat the experience. Early bird specials best value!
