Well well I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to review this wonderful Mexican restaurant! Had a meeting in the area with co-workers and found this place through Yelp! So tasty and very authentic. Had the carne asada and carnitas tacos. Food was wonderfully seasoned with just the right amount. Love the salsa bar. Co-workers had enchiladas, quesadillas- everyone loved the food. We also shared cheese dips and guacamole. I love chunky guacamole and this fit the bill. You could tell this was a popular and authentic place with white collar and blue collar coming together to enjoy good food. It was very busy but service and food was very timely. Can’t wait to go again!

I live in Austin, Texas and have also traveled to Mexico 3 times. I love good Mexican and hate bad Mexican food. The difference here is that the quality of the ingredients is super fresh, and their flavors are fantastic!
I am value shopper, and this place is even more amazing considering their prices. If you’re in the Atlanta airport area, and you want Mexican food, don’t go anywhere else!

Worth the drive from Atlanta!
Service: incredibly polite, courteous, and prompt. Our server was a soft spoken young man who was very sweet and patient with us as we explored their huge menu.
Food: holy smokes, so good! Husband had the chilaquiles with verde sauce, and I had beef enchiladas with verde sauce. Their verde is flavorful with a heat that builds the more you eat (not stupidly spicy, but you know you’re eating legit salsa). I’ve also had their tlayuda when a friend got take-out. Husband and I agreed that their chilaquiles were better than those of a certain “mex-tex” restaurant on the Atlanta beltline. Really darn good!
Drinks: no alcohol, so plan accordingly if that is important to you.
They fill alot of to-go orders, nearly as many as sit-down guests while we were there, so don’t be shy.

A true legitimate Mexican food place. The menu has a great variety of Mexican food. The tortillas are home made corn tortillas. I recommend a cold glass of horchata.

Joining the chorus of fans here. Oaxaquena may have the best Mexican food in the Atlanta metro area. I’m impressed.
Two visits:
Steak taco, Mexican. Super excellent. Nice soft tortilla, well-seasoned meat. Good beans. Rice just ok.
Chicken enchiladas verdes – outstanding, and you get four of them! Plus rice, beans and small salad. The green sauce is some the best I’ve had.
Queso tamales – I ordered two as take-out. They were already boxed up and ready for me when I checked out. Excellent tamales and a steal at the price.
Salsa bar is to die for. Best salsa bar ever. If you like hot and tasty, make your way to La Oaxaquena.
Free chips & salsa and even that salsa is good although I kicked it up three notches with the red chile sauce from the salsa bar. Chips were fresh.
Good service – the food comes out fairly quickly but it takes a while to get the check. The second time here, after sitting with a pushed-away plate for fifteen minutes, I eventually went up to the register and flagged my server. Maybe that’s how you need to do it, although I saw several tables get their check in good time. Maybe it’s just my server (same one both times).
Plenty of parking.
Highly recommended.
