Jim’s Garage, on Lexington Road is the best auto shop I’ve been to in Athens, Georgia! I give them the highest recommendation:
After my car was overheating during this last summer, I experienced the “trials of Job” trying to get it repaired. I took it to two different mechanics/auto shops. They both took forever to fix it and did a terrible job. Both shops said it was completely fixed but it certainly wasn’t and it even got worse. Finally, upon the recommendations of friends, I took it to Jim’s Garage, which opened last year. Their expertise, affability, reliability and timeliness are unrivaled in Athens. Their mechanics know their stuff and they even have an engineer on staff! Bill, at Jim’s Garage, always called me back and talked me through the process (which had become quite involved at that point due to further damage from not getting it fixed correctly) They were quick to fix it and it wasn’t an easy repair.

I highly recommend them if you are looking for an auto shop that has reliable honest expert mechanics, a friendly knowledgeable staff, and reasonable prices!

oe takes care of all three of my Mazda vehicles. Even though they are about ten years apart in age, he and his crew seem equally comfortable with all three. But the big plus for me is trust. Throughout my life, whenever I’ve had to move, or change mechanics, I’ve made a point of talking to other people in order to find a mechanic that others trust and who have a reputation for integrity. After having been away from Athens for many years, but knowing at least something about Joe’s work from his time at another shop in the 1990s, I took a gamble on his shop and I haven’t been disappointed. He’ll tell you what he thinks is wrong and how much it will cost before proceeding and in all the cases I’ve ever seen, he knows the difference between repairs that must be done and repairs that would be nice to do. Joe is also a friendly guy who listens and is easy to talk to.

Good staff, they know what they are doing. The owner was part owner of Japanese Motors works. Joe has 35 year of service in the Athens area.
These mechanics will have you in the garage under your own car. They also have a excellent guy for detailing by appointment at the garage, renew protect.

Have had nothing but the best service possible. Joe takes care of my car, my husband’s car, both of my mother in law’s cars and my brother in law will even make trips from North Carolina to have work done on his car.
