The road to becoming expert auto mechanics was literally decades in the making. In the spring of 2003, after 10 years of hard work, Peter Haughton, owner of Japanese Motor Works, proudly watched his dream become a reality with the completion of his new facility at 200 Firefighter Court, Athens, Georgia. At Japanese Motor Works, our mission is to provide top-quality auto repair services.

Our state-of-the-art facilities and expert technicians have established Japanese Motor Works as a model of automotive service excellence in Athens, Georgia. All of our automotive technicians are ASE-certified car repair specialists and each one of our mechanics has more than 20 years of auto repair experience and extensive dealer training.

Within our new facilities there is also a machine shop facility to manufacture all kinds of high-pressure fluid lines and hoses for many applications including, but not limited to, air conditioning and power steering. Our facilities are combined with certified auto mechanic technicians, a top-notch parts department, and caring customer service. Together we offer the total package in top quality service that sets us apart from the rest.

JMW offers auto repair services for all makes of Japanese cars, including Acura, Datsun, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Infiniti, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota. Japanese Motor Works is the only car repair shop in the Athens, Georgia area that is A-1 rated by the Better Business Bureau. We are active members of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and BNI of Athens.

I took my 1998 Honda to Japanese Motor Works for the first time after a history of having shaky trust in prior repair work at reputable shops. I had some trepidation: would diagnosis be accurate, would repairs be done well, would the cost be fair? The car was in rough shape when it arrived at JMW Wednesday. I left Friday afternoon with a car that is running more smoothly than it has for years — and with a strong sense that this local business is committed to expert and fair service. I was so impressed that repairs were thoroughly explained when I picked up the car (and that I was consulted along the way). Comparing the repair cost with previous experiences and locations, I believe the work by JMW was fairly priced, as well. Overall: Excellent place, people, service. Two thumbs up. Way up.

My wife and I took our son’s (freshman at UGA) car into Japanese Motor Works due to an electrical issue. Peter Haughton, the owner and CEO, sat down with the 3 of us, and asked my son to go thru the problems he was having. His questions were to the point and he patiently listened to my son’s comments, and continued to probe for further diagnostic detail. After 5-8 minutes of Doctor like diagnostic questions, he thought he knew what the problem was. Their service and pricing were excellent. Their attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction was their priority. We live in Marietta, and were so pleased to find Japanese Motor Works, and their staff with Dewey and Jake who were friendly and supportive.

We have found a Auto Service Company that is top notch, and as parents of a UGA student would highly recommend this firm. They give you the sense of security that they will take care of your son’s or daughter’s care and treat them with respectability and fairness. I know that for the next 4 years, our son will be bringing his car to Japanese Motor Works anytime that he has a problem. I am not related to anyone at the firm, but was sincerely impressed by them, and their ability to relate to my son, and address his concern…and we don’t need to drive from Marietta to Athens for future car problems. Thanks to Peter and his team at Japanese Motor Works !!!

Per the recommendation of some of my coworkers at UGA I took my old Civic here multiple times as a grad student before my sister eventually totaled it. Initially this was a very intimidating experience for me as a newly minted ‘adult’ so my dad came up and vetted them. He was so impressed that he would drive the Civic down here from Atlanta for servicing even after I’d given it to my younger sister. JMW is a very professional group of mechanics who ease your car repair anxieties by sharing a bit of their expertise and top notch customer service. I really appreciated having them service my car and would recommend them to anyone in the Athens area with a foreign car.

I have been taking my 2005 Toyota Tundra to Japanese Motor Works for several years now and have nothing but good to say. Peter & his whole crew are very polite, knowledgeable & always do an excellent job on my truck. The waiting area is comfy and their bathroom is cleaner than mine. I no longer dread taking my Tundra in for service or repair because I know it’s in good hands at JMW.
