Hsu’s Chinese restaurant in downtown Atlanta is simply delightful. I’ve eaten here on a few occasions when travel has taken me to A-town. Situated within an easy walk of the Marriott Marquis, Westin, Hyatt, and Hilton, it is a perfect place to go for a great meal for travelers or locals alike. The host/hostess has always seated me and my company promptly. The tables await guests with chopsticks and utensils ready to go. The menus are a bit faded and can be hard to read, but that is a testament to the many people who visit this great establishment.
I always start out with the Wonton soup – the dumplings are supple, hearty, and always flavorful. The stock is superb and has a deeper complexity of fresh herbs and savory goodness that no carry-out Chinese restaurant can remotely replicate. As for entrees, there are many great options, though the curry is one of my favorites. It’s popping with flavor and a nice dab of heat. That said, my friends and colleagues have shared only praise for their dishes, too. I should note, Hsu’s is one of the few Chinese restaurants I’ve been at that does not overly salt the food. This is a testament to an expert chef and kitchen staff who take the time to bring big flavor without relying on salt.
The atmosphere is quiet, unpretentious, and comfortable. The low lighting makes for an intimate and pleasant setting with abundant wood accents to create an ambiance that can only be described as warm.
Hsu’s is one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta. I encourage you to visit this excellent restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere and cuisine for yourself. I am sure you’ll be pleased.

Love this place!! The food is delicious and the service is awesome. San Shan soup, Peking duck, scallop and black pepper sauce.. can’t go wrong with anything you order here. It’s right by the Americas Mart, so you’ll definitely want to make a reservation if you go during Market. We feel like family every time we dine here. It’s an absolute must of you’re ever in ATL!

Been here a few times, they never fail to deliver good food and good service. Shrimp and avacado is delicious as are the shrimp dumplings. Different drinks that are good and potent after a long day at the market. Quick walk out the door of building 1. Go you won’t be disappointed;))

Fantastic food and great service. We went in super late. It was about 45 minutes before they closed and they were very welcoming. We pretty much had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Their Kimchi is very spicy and delicious. The pork tenderloin was really awesome in taste and texture.

This place is amazing! I asked for my chicken & broccoli to have a sauce similar to teriyaki and it was the best I’ve ever had! Compliments to the chef!!! My husband had the salt & pepper shrimp and said it was awesome! The final touch was being served fortune cookies dipped in chocolate! I would recommend this place to anyone in downtown Atlanta!!!

Great food, great service! I was in Atlanta for a conference and stopped in here for lunch. There was a huge line but one empty spot at the bar which I grabbed. The bar tender was super friendly, but not intrusive. I got the Avocado Shrimp because it was something that I don’t really see on menus, and it was really delicious. I would highly recommend it. Their steamed dumplings were also incredible. Despite the long line I had fast service, and I was impressed at how quickly they moved to get people in. I would definitely recommend this place.

Their lunch menu is very reasonable with plenty of options! It was semi busy when my boss and I went but the server was very consistent and on top of everything. The location and ambiance of the place is great! They have chocolate covered fortune cookies (which I’ve never had before) and they were delicious!

Went here years ago. To this date, I’ve eaten Peking duck around NC, GA, and FL… Nothing has satisfied me to the extent Hsu has. They’re one of the very few restaurants that serve the crispy duck skin in rice wraps instead of the traditional steamed buns. I love both, but feel there’s more balance with the wraps. The buns take away more than it supplements the overall taste depending on where you go. Go here. This place will forever have a soft spot with me

We decided to eat here while we were in Atlanta for a trade show. The trip over was definitely worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious, easily the best Chinese food I have ever had. I had a wonton soup that was light and flavorful.. so often you end up with something greasy and too sweet or salty. Nope.. perfectly balanced and delicious. There were three in our group and we all enjoyed our meals. I wish we would have eaten here again during our trip. The service was also impeccable. Every time my tea cup was empty someone would refill it. We had what appeared to be a manager or owner stop by to check on us too. Excellent food, extremely reasonable (cheap) prices and impeccable service. What more could you ask for?

I searched for a couple days for an authentic Chinese fare in and near downtown Atlanta. At the last minute I found this quaint restaurant! This was the perfect place for my good friend’s first meal back in the US, after living in Haiti (He has also lived in China). He commented throughout the night that this was just like the restaurants in China he had been to -authentic atmosphere, low light, and quality food. The food was impeccable! Our waiter, James, outlined some great dishes that were the house specials and local favorites. We enjoyed the hospitality —thank you for hosting us Dave!

This place surprised me and I love it! The atmosphere is like a “throwback” American Chinese restaurant and it’s a place that you want to dine in and either sit at the bar or at a table and enjoy your meal. The cuisine, decor and overall atmosphere are authentic to the Hsu’s brand and the staff are all very hospitable and cordial. Service is pretty fast for how busy they get during the lunch rush. You have the option of calling ahead for a carry out order or ordering carryout right there. I’ve never had a bad experience dining in or carrying out from Hsu’s and whenever I eat there, during a weekday lunch, I feel like I’ve received a reprieve from the busyness of the day. I don’t think they need to change anything.

So I discovered this mom and pop Chinese place while here on work… The food is good but the atmosphere is way better…. I decided to sit at the bar we had 4 total strangers sitting next to each other and by the entree we where all laughing and acting like friends with the Bartender Kenny … Was worth every penny spent here. I have never laughed so hard. Like I said the food was good but the humor was awesome. The hot and sour soup was good but the Tso chicken extra krispy no veggies more chicken extra sauce. The flavor is spicy but not to spicy it also has a kick.
But seriously come sit at the bar and have dinner with Kenny totally worth it and his sassy attitude.. what else can I say except go try it
