Our families live and work in Savannah, Georgia, so we’re invested in our community on a very personal level. And we believe every family in the area deserves individualized in-home senior care with a compassionate touch. That’s why we established Home Instead Senior Care of Savannah, Georgia. As a locally owned business, we offer friendly, responsive service right in your neighborhood. We’re dedicated to making our community a better place to live for seniors and their families.

Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead, Inc. in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. Paul’s own family experience caring for his grandmother led him to realize many families could use the help of an in-home caregiver. He and Lori set about creating a company to help seniors to live independently at home. That mission still drives the company and its franchise network today.

Home Instead Senior Care – Caregiver Skills

Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.

Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer’s, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.

Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver’s franchise office.

Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

I phoned Home Instead on a Monday morning at 9am, I needed to have someone sit with my Dad at night only. There was a very nice Nurse Pam that came out before noon on the same day to visit with me. That night at 5pm someone was there to sit with my Dad. I was very impressed with the quick service. The CNA’a were the most professional and sweetest people ever. Unfortunately my Dad passed the next night. If ever I was in need of assistance such as this, I would use them again. Thank you to the Home Instead staff.

The compassion that you all show to patients who are suffering from this disease is commendable. Your staff is friendly and the care givers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting have all been courteous and knowledgeable. It takes special people to care for others and you all are that: special!!!

I am a friend or relative of a resident. Home Instead Senior Care got to me the fastest. I called at 9:00 in the evening, and they had someone answering the phone. Overall, I’m satisfied with their service. I used them for about two months for my sister. They started off being very accommodating, but after a while, they have certain requirements and then they wanted more hours. I couldn’t pay that because I was a second party. If they have minimum hours, they need to state their requirements upfront. Now, they’re dealing directly with my sister and she took over and assumed responsibility. She liked them and she has resumed their service.
