My family was passing through Temple one evening while looking at a house and saw El Tapatio’s in the distance. It was getting late and we were hungry..plus my husband thought this was the same restaurant from where he grew up and he missed it. ok, so it ended up not being the same place we thought it was but I am so happy we found it. The food was affordable and delicious. It is rare when I rave about tacos because the meet is usually so bland but the meat they use tasted more natural. I dont know. The quesadilla was also really good and unlike other places that make you upgrade to the fajita quesadilla their standard quesadilla came with onions and cheese. The only minor change I would make is to the chile relleno. Its amazingly good but the pepper is way too small. It is more cheese/beef which I’m sure they did for a reason. Yum I definitely recommend this place!

I love Mexican food and this place has it. There are many Mexican restaurants around but this one is the best at least for me. My favorite food is fajitas and this place has the best!

Great authentic Mexican food!! Cheap price..Cold Beer, Full bar. The staff is excellent. I got the shrimp cocktail and was not disappointed. My wife got the steak fajitas and they were delicious as well. I will stop here every time I’m in the area.

I ended up going for the first time on cinco de mayo! This restaurant is in a strip mall across from a truck stop off busy I-20. The food was righteous–fajitas, crisp tortilla chips and a superb salsa. Margaritas were flowing along with pitchers of beer. I’m glad I went early at 5 pm as there was a line down the sidewalk as I left at 7 pm…but it was cinco de mayo!
There are booths for families, but I sat at the bar and ate with the truckers. Met Iraq veterans, long haul family men–everyone happy to get off the road and chill. A DJ was there to play videos..lot of TV screens with different sports, news, music videos. And brilliant–They had closed captioning on news and sports. I wish all restaurants would do this. The bartenders and waiters were hardworking, always smiling, and always there when you needed them. A good time was had by all! Isn’t that the point of going out?
