I created Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School in the fall of 2000, as a facility where I could use the food of the South, the Low Country, and the Atlantic Georgia Coast as a vehicle to dispel the myths and misconceptions many visitors and locals alike held about Savannah and her cuisine. In short, I wanted to be able to bring the great treasures of this coastal region as close to peoples’ homes as their own kitchens, and with a style all my own.

I preach the gospel of authentic Southern cuisine to all comers. The success of the school is a credit to my great love of southern cuisine and the city of Savannah. I am proud to say that I have been able to share the heritage and southern culture with visitors from all over the world. For over fourteen years, I’ve shared my passion for Southern food and culture with the Savannah metropolitan region and beyond, and one day I’d like to share it with you.

This was amazing. Just did the seafood lovers course with girlfriends on a girl weekend trip. Chef Joe, Barbara and Cheryl were so hospitable and the food was just amazing. Best I’ve ever had for sure. I enjoyed every minute and learned some good cooking tips, new recipes. Great company, intimate setting. I hear his shrimp and grits are out of this world. Chef Joe gave up the recipe so we could try at home in Tampa. Although I came here expecting to have a hands on experience, I left not feeling an ounce of disappointment about that. Great time!

This cooking school is quite the experience. Chef Joe Randall is entertaining as well as an excellent chef. The recipes all seemed doable but I know my version will never taste as amazing as his. He has the knack and passion for what he’s doing.

Our menu was French onion soup, beef Wellington, and chocolate raspberry cheesecake, all delivered beautifully. I recommend bringing a bottle of wine next time and leaving the extra $30 you would of spent on wine to Maggie and Barbara, who technically are Chef Randall’s help, but clearly are the engines that drive this kitchen. His website has the menus, pick a night, pay in advance, and sit and enjoy!

It’s been two years since my Savannah visit, but I STILL beg friends to sign up for a class when they say they are heading to Savannah. It is still the best meal experience I have ever had. Chef Joe is meant to do this kind of thing. The food was amazing! Even things I wouldn’t normally touch (like oysters in the Seafood Au Gratin), his versions made me rethink my position on them.
