There’s been a lot of this style of restaurant popping up in the ATL lately, but this has definitely been my favorite so far. All of the ingredients here are super top notch. This place is all about quality, and it shows. That being said, quality costs more, so be prepared for a bill that could be a little higher than your normal sushi outing. I started with a matcha sake slushie. The serving portion looks small until you taste it and realize how much sake went in there. I would definitely get one again, and the rest of the cocktail menu looks great as well.
For brunch, we got a salmon and citrus roll, which was topped with purred sun dried tomato and thin lemon slices, the chashu (the best pork belly ever with egg over rice, crazy good), some other great thing with a name I can’t remember that had sea urchin, roe, and other delicious things over a bed of rice, and the ramen. Everything was excellent, meticulously prepared, and delicious, but the ramen was my favorite. It had a deep, rich flavor, big slices of fish, fresh tasting seaweed, some delicious pork, slightly runny eggs, and other ingredients that I think were a vegetable. Go if you want to be amazed and delighted, it was a great experience!

There are few times in life when there is such an expertly crafted and top quality meal nothing short of excellence. I mean they really go for quality here. Opened for 3 months now, Brush Izakaya has been bookmarked for two months. Came here for an anniversary dinner and man were my expectations met! It’s across from a church parking lot and there’s plenty of public parking ranging from across the street to a block away. Bring cash, the parking is around 5$.
Ambiance/Decor ***** 5 stars
It’s not too big inside, but its really cozy and really gives off that gastropub kind of feel to it. They have this cute drawn chicken on the wall that shows which section of chicken you’re ordering!
Service***** 5 Stars
The service was on point and he was very patient with helping us decide and informing us of what certain things meant. ALSO, when he didn’t know, he was honest about it and that means a lot to me. If I ask a question and you don’t know, I don’t want to hear some elaborate fiction of how the stone grill was forged by the ancient dragons of the east-.-. But our server Jesse was honest, courteous, and really took care of us that night despite us coming in an hour and a half before closing at 11.
Food*****5 stars
The food was fantastic! We ordered SO much. We started with the agedash tofu, the salmon onigiri, Norwegian Salmon skewer, Haas avocado skewer, the poke, duo broth ramen, and the matcha sundae and cake ice cream. All the fish was extremely fresh, some of the best I’ve had in Atlanta. I don’t normally like avocado, butter haas avocado was delicious. The did a great job capturing the flavor of the salmon in the onigiri as well. The RAMEN was awesome! I’m a ramen junkie and this is one of the best! Their duo broth is so rich in flavor and a little heavier than other ones I’ve had, but the flavor made my taste buds jump around for the rest the night. The old world rolls are so tasty and fresh, definitely a good throwback to traditional rolls. And the desserts were all so fun and unique. the macha ice cream that was on matcha bread in a sizzling pan with extra matcha dressing and the match sundae were all very well done and boasts of various flavors.
P.S. ramen is only served after 9

Definitely the best restaurant for high quality and traditional Japanese dishes with some modern twist. Dinning environment is romantic yet contemporary and comfortable. Love this place!! I wish I live closer that I can come more often. Price is on the higher side but I have to say that you do get what you pay for. I’ve been there a few times and each time I walked out feeling inspired and satisfied. Chef Jason puts in heart and soul in designing the dishes and in ensuring the food is from the freshest source.
Love –
– yellowtail jalapeño (had this at a girls night out here and they were gone in seconds),
– Tofu avocado salad
– House chashu rice (lightly crisp outside and almost melt in your mouth inside) (my 8 year old asked for two bowls…. )
– stir fried udon (also kids’ favorite)
– try their rolls (oddly, I can enjoy them without soy sauce and wasabi; they have “magical” sauce in them)
– tried most yakitori dishes and highly recommended
Also love dessert. They have a very unique menu that you can get ONlY here. Hot cake with some tea flavor topped with ice cream…. Yum…. And they are absolutely delicious! Will be back when I can find nanny for the full experience (omakase). I heard it is a great “show” sitting right in front of the Chef, watching him preparing the food.

Fantastic food, nice and helpful staff. Maybe a bit more expensive than some other sushi spots in Decatur but you’re paying for fresh here, and a great experience… Best sushi I’ve had in the SE… My fiancée and I will be back whenever we want a great special meal in Decatur.
