Our story begins when two business partners first met over 40 years ago. Mitchell Barnes joined Carey Carter in 1972 as the Style Directors for all of Rich’s Hair Salons. They created styles for all the fashion clothes designers and showcased them at the Rich’s Department Stores. In 1986, they formed one of the most acclaimed salons in Atlanta: Carter*Barnes Hair Artisans. They currently have two locations one which is the flagship location in Phipps Plaza and the second on Paces Ferry Rd. We are very involved in the community and philanthropy work. Our motto is Ladies and gentleman serving ladies and gentleman.

I have been going to Carter Barnes a long time and I have always had a great experience there. Jackie who is appropriately named “The Color Goddess” does bang up job on my hair and it always turns out perfect. She’s a great lady!

I enjoyed yet another visit to Carter Barnes on my visit to Atlanta!!! I have had the privilege on each visit to get a great style with a professional stylist! Julian was in charge of my tresses today and what a treat!!!Will always be a patron….

Mitchell, one of the owners, has been my stylist for 20+ years. I was unable to visit the salon for about 7 mo. On my return I was welcomed w/open arms not just as a client but as a friend. I have had long hair/short bob & in recent years a pixie. Mitchell is the ONLY one who knows how to make my hair look its best, including my color! Rachel & Stephanie, his assistants are wonderful. Everyone is very professional there. The price reflects the talent & the area.

The salon was beautiful , AJ was fabulous with her shampoo and Lisa is beyond talented with her cutting and styling techniques. Very happy I cam in Carter Barnes today!

YOLANDA NAILED IT!!!! I came in with shoulder length long curly hair and left with a really amazing short haircut that was exactly what I asked for. This place was friendly, clean and professional. I will be back for my next cut!
